Origin Reine Hortense Peony

„Reine Hortense” peony, sometimes known as Paeonia lactiflora ‘Hortense’, is a hybrid peony cultivar produced in France in the early twentieth century. It is thought to be a hybrid between Paeonia lactiflora and an unknown peony species.
„Reine Hortense” peonies are appreciated for their huge, double, fragrant flowers that bloom in pink, white, and red. It is a tough plant that can reach 3 feet in height and prefers well-drained soil in full sun to light shade.
Although the „Reine Hortense” peony’s actual origin is unknown, it is thought to have been named after Hortense de Beauharnais, the daughter of Empress Josephine of France. Hortense peonies were introduced to the United States in the 1920s and have since become popular garden plants due to their beauty and dependability.

Flower Care

Here are some care recommendations for a peony bouquet: When you receive the peonies bouquet, carefully remove it from its packaging. Under running water, cut the flower stems diagonally at a 45-degree angle with clean and sharp scissors. This will prevent air bubbles from forming in the stems, which can obstruct water uptake. To prevent bacterial growth in the vase, remove any leaves or foliage that are below the water line. Choose a vase that is clean and large enough to hold the peonies. Fill it with clean, fresh water. If the bouquet includes flower food, mix it into the water according to the package directions. If you don't have flower food, you can add a pinch of sugar to the water to help keep the water clean and the flowers nourished. Change the water every two days and recut the stems at a 45-degree angle to assist the flowers in absorbing water. You can help ensure that your peonies bouquet stays fresh and beautiful for as long as possible by following these steps.
